DEMOC PAC IS PROUD TO BE PART

OF THE SPONSORING COMMITTEE
OF THE OC WOMEN'S MARCH!

Because of the controversy with the National Women's March, the OC Women's March is a separate entity and has released the following statement:

"The Orange County Women's March is a local, volunteer-driven, grassroots coalition of individuals and organizations dedicated to promoting inclusivity and equity in our collective efforts to advance the status of women and women's issues. Our coalition is distinctly independent of Women's March, Inc. a national organization. The Orange County Women's March does not share any leadership, decision-marking input, or financial connection to Women's March, Inc, and we independently raise our own funds to present our local Orange County Women's March.

The Orange County Women's March stands against hate in all forms. We denounce any statements against the Jewish and LGBTQIA+ communities and will continue to take action to promote intersectionality and equity as we work toward our vision of restoring dignity, sharing humanity, and promoting inclusivity and justice for all.

We firmly believe that women must stand in solidarity with all marginalized communities and ask those communities to stand together with us against hate and oppression in all forms and at all levels. we look forward to marching with you in downtown Santa Ana on Saturday, January 19, 2019.

Defense Secretary James Mattis just resigned in protest against the president? Secretaries of State have resigned in protest, but never before a Secretary of Defense. Who will be Donald Trump's choice to succeed the level-headed Mattis, the last "adult in the room"? This on the the same day that the acting Attorney General cleared himself so that he can be in charge of the Mueller investigation. Cleared himself? Seriously? As we listened to the news last night, my husband said, "Thank goodness we won the House." More honest words were never spoken. Such relief. Now Trump and his Republican Senate can't even agree on funding the government because DT can't stand the fact that his wall isn't funded and is getting serious flak from Fox News and the right-wing noise machine. We are facing a government shutdown. And the beat goes on.

And today, the Notorious RBG, our beloved Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, has had surgery for lung cancer. We understand that they "got it all" and that she is resting comfortably. We hope and pray that she recuperates well so that she can continue her critical work on the Court and in her own life.

Things WILL BE DIFFERENT in just a few weeks when we will see our huge California Democratic Congressional delegation go to Washington, including our FOUR Democrats from Orange County!!! and the House is BLUE!!!! A Democratic Congress, Democratic Committee Chairs...some sanity and security and a little of the safety net will return.

Because some of our local congressional members are having swearing-in ceremonies the same week as our meeting, we have moved our first meeting of the year. Please note our new date....

I cannot wait to gather together on Tuesday!

Dear DemOC PAC Members and Friends,

I cannot wait to gather together on Tuesday, there is so much to talk about and celebrate! As of this writing, we have won two House seats in the OC...Congratulations to our candidates, call them Congressmen Harley Rouda and Mike Levin! Two more are still counting as Katie Porter gets closer to Mimi Walters (and we hear she might pass her early next week) and Gil Cisneros is inching closer to Young Kim!

(In addition, we have many victories in the cities...PAC members Sharon Wallin and Farrah Khan have won seat on the Irvine School Board and City Council, respectively, and Cottie Petrie Norris is ahead in the count for an unprecedented win in the State Assembly. Wow!)

I have not taken my eye off the terrible human toll taken these past weeks with the dreadful multiple shootings. And now the fires. On Election Day I was honored to meet David Hogg, one of the leaders of the Parkland survivors, who chose Irvine to help get out the vote. And I do believe, with the flip of the House, change will begin. Do you know that as of today, 27 NRA-backed members of Congress lost their jobs on Tuesday? That is a win!

Please join us for a little meeting and a lot of partying when we have a pot luck dinner, a raffle (bring cash) and some fun....
